The following list of Waterfalls are all close by and well worth a visit, here we will provide the necessary info to decide which one(s) to check out while you are in the neighborhood.
Toms Creek Falls
Location: Huskins Branch Road, Marion, NC
Distance: Approximately 5.5 miles north of Marion
Trail: 0.8-mile easy out-and-back trail with some obstacles
Highlights: 60-foot multi-tiered cascade with a pool at the base; features a scenic observation deck and is the closest public waterfall to your home base at Tanglewood Campground
Linville Falls
Location: Blue Ridge Parkway, Milepost 316.3, Linville Falls, NC
Distance: Approximately 20 miles northeast of Marion
Trail Options:
Upper Falls Trail: 0.5-mile easy hike
Erwin’s View Trail: 0.7-mile moderate hike
Plunge Basin Trail: 0.5-mile moderate hike
Highlights: Three-tiered waterfall with multiple viewing platforms; popular for photography and scenic views
Dugger’s Creek Falls
Location: Blue Ridge Parkway, Milepost 316.5, Linville Falls, NC
Distance: Approximately 20 miles northeast of Marion
Trail: 0.3-mile easy hike
Highlights: Small waterfall accessible via a short trail by the Linville Falls visitors center; features a scenic footbridge and is worth a peak and a pic if you are already there!
Crabtree Falls
Location: Blue Ridge Parkway, Milepost 339.5, Little Switzerland, NC
Distance: Approximately 25 miles northeast of Marion
Trail: 2.5-mile moderate hike
Highlights: Beautiful waterfall with a well-maintained trail; great for hiking and photography
Roaring Fork Falls
Location: Pisgah National Forest, Little Switzerland, NC
Distance: Approximately 25 miles northeast of Marion
Trail: Short hike with a gentle ascent
Highlights: 30-foot waterfall with a narrow, zigzag slide; serene and less crowded
